Dirty South – March 2012 Mix

We have made our way into March 2012 and let me tell you, it’s about damn time! Not only is it my birthday month, but it is also means we are that much closer to Coachella (April). March is a time when the EDM world begins to start pumping with future summer anthems, as festival season here in the US gets underway. Although I will not be attending — what I deem the official start to festival season — Beyond Wonderland this year, I will be hitting a few shows in the mean time to get prepared for Coachella (Weekend 1…Duh). With Laidback Luke, Hard Rock Sofa, and Michael Woods all upcoming shows to get me prepared, I also count on mix’s such as the March 2012 Mix that Dirty South just dropped. These mix’s are essential preparation tools to ensure a fresh flow of sounds are circulating so that you do not become bored with certain anthems that you are sure to hear while skipping around at whichever festival you attend. Be sure to download this mix as it holds some sure to be festival gems in it!

Review: Sound Wave Festival (Arizona)

Since moving out to Arizona from Manhattan Beach, CA (30 Mins. southwest of Los Angeles) in August, I had an uneasy feeling about the caliber of EDM talent that would be coming through AZ.  I was coming off a MASSIVE summer of attending shows nearly every weekend (with the help of Music Alerts). From San Diego to Hollywood. Minimal, progressive, dub, and house techy beats. We were on it, ready to dance and party our faces off all night long.

Steve LeVine Entertainment and Insomniac’s Sound Wave Festival this last Saturday in Tempe, AZ has erased that uneasy feeling by throwing a party of EPIC proportions! Sound Wave Festival has set the bar at a very high level for dance parties in the state of Arizona. I was very impressed with all aspects that I personally experienced at the event. The production on the main stage was amazing. There were awesome visuals and I loved how it was LOUD AS F@%&! The sound (bass) from the festival could be heard from so far away that our cab driver was completely boggled at what hell was going on.

Up first on the agenda was the astronaut space suit wearing duo, Manufactured Superstars. These space men really do throw down huge sets and really know how to get the crowd going! Taking turns jumping down from the decks to slap high fives with fans in the front and mixing big tracks in really got everyone moving!! With the release of their new song “Drunk Text” the week of the festival, I was eagerly awaiting to hear the bass line on big time speakers. Give it a listen down below. If you haven’t been fortunate enough to see Manufactured Superstars live, make sure you check out their set from EDC 2011 below. Their live sets have received very positive feedback from fans everywhere so be sure to check them out when they come through your town.

Immediately following Manufactured Superstars on the main stage was one of my personal top 5 favorites. Dirty South. I really did not agree with his set time being from 9-10:30 but I had seen that he was on double duty that night and had to make his way over to Las Vegas for another set that night. Anyways, I cannot complain one bit as he dropped an amazing set with his remix of Skylar Grey’s “Invisible,” his collaboration with Thomas Gold feat. Kate Elsworth “Alive”, and of course his very popular remix of Diddy’s “Coming Home.” Dirty South never disappoints and reassured his spot in my personal top 5 favorite DJs. If you have never seen Dirty South live, you are clearly missing out. Download this live set: Dirty South @ Cream Amnesia July 2011

Next up on my list were the boys from Boulder. SAVOY. These guys literally bring the fire!! Its too bad they had to play on the side stage since many festival goers hung around the main stage for Z-Trip. Word from my buddies was that I made the right call by migrating over. My response: DUH! Savoy has been on a terror lately and are talented enough to produce not only heavy hitting house bangers, but also drop to your butt dubstep bombs! I honestly vaguely remember their set due to my consumption of Jagermeister upon entering the venue. Check out a previous post on Savoy for their downloadable Fall Mix! Savoy’s Fall Mix.

After throwing back some water, and reducing the fuzziness that was going on in my head. I snapped out of it and skipped back over to the main stage as it was time to end the night with Americas # 1 DJ. KASKADE! WOW!! What more can you say about his performance. He opened up his 2 hour set with his popular track from this summer “Eyes” (Video Below). He of course hit on most of the Kaskade classics like Raining, Move For Me, and closed out with I Remember (Caspa Remix). Kaskade also dropped Dada Life’s new track “Happy Violence” which I was really pumped on, being a big Dada fan and all. My favorite track at the moment though is his popular new song Turn It Down Feat. Rebecca & Fiona and I would rate this the highlight of my night. His casual yet energetic stage presence along with his track selecting fire power, energizes the crowd to a level that is words can not describe.

Sound Wave Festival was a great success from my viewpoint. The smooth entry, reasonable beer station, production of the stages and grade A talent all contributed to making this one night to remember. I see Sound Wave Festival growing even bigger in the coming years, and I would like to commend SLE and Insomniac for putting on an awesome dance music festival for the state of Arizona!!

See you next year!!!

Sound Wave Festival (Arizona)

The last post of Savoy’s Fall Mix made me realized I’m on a particularly solid Techy buzz off them. Two weeks ago I was fortunate enough to log onto Facebook at the perfect time. The Sound Wave Festival had just posted a question regarding the next act to be announced on Facebook. The answer ended up being Savoy and yours truly was the first correct answer granting me 2 tickets to the biggest festival in all of Arizona! I have been lucky enough to see them throw down twice before. The first experience I had seeing them was at Insomniac’s Beyond Wonderland in San Bernardino in March 2011. I must say, it was a HUGE way to start off the truly unforgettable event. The last time I caught them was this last summer at the legendary Voyeur, down in San Diego, CA. Again they brought the HEAT to arguably one of the most intimate and energetic venues in the United States. So here we go, round 3 of Savoy on October 14th at Big Surf Park in Tempe, AZ.

Earlier I claimed this to be the biggest festival in all of Arizona. I stand to that as Steve Levine Entertainment and Insomniac have partnered up to bring us some of the most in demand acts at the moment! The monstrous Techy Party will host 3 stages and an all star lineup including Mark Instinct, Manufactured Superstars, Trolly SnatchaZ Trip, Savoy, Dirty South, and America’s 2011 #1 DJ. KASKADE! Sound Wave Festival is sure to be one for the ages here in Arizona and I am more than stoked to be in attendance on October 14th. Check out the Official Sound Wave Facebook page Here. Ticket Link below flyer.

Purchase tickets from Steve LeVine Entertainment Here : When purchasing, select my buddy Coleman Smith’s name and enter the PROMO Code: 8631. Every dollar helps right??

I’d also like to send a big thank you to SLE and SWF for the tickets!! You have made me one happy camper!! I can’t wait to dance all around Big Surf Park!!

AVICII LOVES YOU!

22 year old, Tim Bergling better known as AVICII is one of the most in demand DJs in the world at the moment. We were lucky enough to be greeted with his presents out here in Arizona two weeks ago at GLOWfest. He threw down an amazing set filled with all of the classic Avicii tunes for Arizona State students at the Mesa Amphitheater. This being my 3ed time seeing Tim take the decks, I knew what I was in for. ANTHEMS! Here is another big one for your listening pleasures!
